Reviews of this property
Appartement plein de charme avec une terrasse très agréable, dans un quartier sympa, proche du canal de La Villette et du métro.
Patrick nous a accueilli avec beaucoup de gentillesse.
We've booked this flat from Sept 25 to 30th. I've communicated through e-mail (with very poor French from the Google translator) with Patrick. He was very prompt to meet us at the flat. On our way to the flat from the train station, through the ride and looking at the area it looks like the cheaper area. You can see rubbish everywhere, when we get to the flat there's a big pile of dog poop that they don't even pick it up instead they just put a paper towel on top! Either way we meet Patrick at the door, he's super nice and took us up to the flat and showed us around. In the first glance it looks like the picture that was provided but when he left and we sat down just to catch our breath and looked it's 70% of what the pictures represented. The actual place now by the window are covered up mostly with plants, so it's not as well led up as the pictures. The other most important thing is the bed! It is NOTHING close to what's in the picture what so ever! Apparently I'm the first to say it's not comfortable at all on that about 2 inches thick of a so called mattress and those pillows they are in lumps! Anyways, it was a long day we want to settle down, so we've decided to go out to get a few things of the grocery so the next morning we can take it easy and enjoy the terrace (which is like a jungle now comparing to the picture). So we've went out to have our dinner and got our grocery. When we come back, the elevator doesn't work, we pressed the button it lite up but doesn't seem to move, as soon as we take our finger off the elevator button it doesn't lite up. So we end it up walking up the stairs and we've tried to push the buttons on the wall try to activate the timer or switch to get some light, NOTHING worked! We've to walked up in the dark. We put things away, wipe the place down, I just couldn't believe the handle on the refrigerator after I wiped it was dark brown on the wipe! The light switches are like black dust on top of all the buttons, not sure if this place ever get cleaned! So all these we're like fine, most people aren't into details like me. We've unpacked and get ready to wash to have a nice shower to be clean to bed. Then we find out we can NOT get any hot water what so ever!!!!! That was the last draw, we've moved out the same night. We've just got on the internet and find a hotel that has a room available last min! We've got the heck out of there! We didn't even bring our suitcase NOTHING! All we took with us were our valuable and our toothbrushes. We've checked in to a nice hotel have a nice hot shower and slept like a baby on a very nice comfortable bed! In the afternoon, we've went back to the flat and finally the elevator is working, we've took it up and gather all our luggages and tested the water, they had the hot water back but we've just got the heck out of there!
In my option, we should get that one day fully refunded back to us with all those inconveniences and the rest they can keep as it was our choice to move out of there due to very unsatisfactory findings. Nothing was refunded just that Patrick apologize and let the housekeeper know about the dirtiness I've found!
Therefore, I wouldn't really recommend to anyone anymore! Not even myself! I've found it more and more renting people's home is just nothing the same or have that guarantee to have the cleanness and comfort. I think after this, I'm not going to look for flat anymore, will just book the hotel from now on!
The apartment is situated on the top floor of a 5 storey apartment block in "Little Africa". It's about a 5 mins walk to the Stalingrad metro station, which connects to lines 2, 5 and 7. From Stalingrad, it's about 10 to 15 mins by Line 2 to Pigalle, Blanche or Place de Clichy in the Montmartre district.
The apartment itself is quite spacious for a Paris apartment and it has a very nice terrace with plants and a small fishpond, with a view overlooking the Gare de L'est and the Sacre Coeur in the distance. Patrick told us he deals in antiques and he has furnished his apartment with many interesting pieces, which give the apartment a slightly busy but very special ambience.
The kitchen is fully stocked with kitchenware and utensils and is fully functional. The bathroom is clean and the shower works well. The bed was comfortable. On the whole we had a pleasant, comfortable stay in Patrick's apartment.
Patrick was responsive in responding to queries prior to and during our stay and he met us on arrival to show us around the apartment. We wish to thank Patrick for his warm welcome and hospitality.
Excellent Apartment near Bassin de la Villette/ Canal Saint-Martin and 3 min. walk to Stalingrad Metro/ bus to all attractions. The Apartment is well equipped in an old/ antique style and a fantastic garden terrace overlooking Montmatre including Sacré-Coeur. Perfect for breakfast and an evening drink. You feel at home in the Apartment, and the caretaker was very helpful by check-in. Supermarket and local restaurants less than 5 min. away. It is value for Money, we will recommend this Apartment to our friends!
We have had a great stay at Patrick's flat and we wish to come back. His joy with colors and antiques furniture, mirrors, lighting ,the very clever use of space and at last a beautiful garden terrace where to enjoy a drink with the view to the marvelous Sacré Cæur.
Four backers around the corner and a nice minimarked fixed the breakfast. Nearby City bicycles and three Metro lines took us around In Paris.
Best regards Berit and Magne
