THE DESCRIPTION: This listing is for a luxury duplex with loft apartment in the East Village ideal for a couple, single or small family with 1-2 children. This can work for 2 couples with one couple in the loft.
All who stay will experience living in a fantastic apartment in NYC while saving a few bucks from pricey NYC hotels that are located in the heart of the tourist frenzy areas in midtown. It's new, very clean and is in a great location, being only 2 minute walk to subway or less than a minute to a bus stop.
The apartment has a large bedroom, full bathroom, fully stocked kitchen and living room with 2 new modern retro sofas that also fold out flat into comfy double/full beds, HD TV with 1900+ channels, WiFi and includes breakfast!
This apartment is on the 6th + top floors of a modern, elevator building which faces South (sunny and bright, with excellent breezy ventilation or A/C) and is across the street from a school, so it's quiet at night and in the mornings on weekends!
Prices (all are in USD), not including WIMDU fees: (No Check-in/out on Saturday or Sunday.
Prices may vary due to other circumstances as well. During summer months (May through September), the minimum stay is 3 nights (on weekends).
The unit has a fully stocked kitchen: full size fridge/freezer, dishwasher, gas stove/oven, microwave, top of the line stainless cookware, utensils, dishware, glassware and a full bathroom with a tub.
There is a laundry room in the basement if you feel like doing laundry, or a dry cleaner half a block away.
The Building and Neighborhood: This ELEVATOR building complex has 10 units, mostly 2 bedrooms, and there are 2 apartments on each floor.
2 minute walk to subway (L Train)
1 minute walk to Bus (M15)
10 minute walk to Union Square (every single subway is accessible from)
20-30 minute walk to midtown (Empire State Building, Times Square, Madison Square Garden)
This neighborhood is very lively after the sun goes down. The East Village has been heavily built up over the last 5 years and located in one of the most desirable neighborhoods in Manhattan. The East Village offers a variety of restaurants, cafes, bars and a beautiful park. You can walk to Indian, Russian, Italian, Mexican, Japanese, Chinese, Thai, Vegetarian and American restaurants within a 5 block radius. If you're too tired and beat up from touring NYC and don't feel like going anywhere, you can simply order room service and have anything delivered to the room (usually until 11 pm or midnight) as there are plenty of menus from all the nearby food establishments. These little privately owned restaurants are MUCH better than midtown/tourist-trap food chain places as well. There are at least three 24/hr places to get food within 2 blocks and about 50 restaurant/bars/cafes and shopping within a 3 block radius and probably 500 within a 10 block radius. This building is one of only a few in the neighborhood that has an elevator. About 95% of the buildings in the area are walk-ups. Enjoy a beautiful park (Tompkins Square) 2 blocks away the East River waterfront park about 5 streets/blocks to the east.
I'm always happy to recommend the cool, not-in-the-guide-books places for nightlife or dinner or anything else you may seek while in NYC!

Reviews for this host's other properties
Great stay at Bruce & Cyndi's in the fantastic East village.Easy reach of subway(about 10 min's walk) area full of every type of restaurant you could ever need seems safe enough at any time & its great to stay as part of the city instead of just being in an anonymous hotel.Would stay again no problem.
we stayed 14 days at Bruce's appartment and had a fantastic time. The room we had was very clean and homely. There was a small fridge, cable TV and WLAN. It perfectly fitted our needs and we felt straight at home. We could even sit outside and have a smoke and a glass of wine which is not that common in NY. Bruce and Cindy are fantastic hosts took time to talk to us and gave us excellent tips on were to eat in the neighbourhood. In short: good people that make you feel welcome. The appartment comes with a shared roof terrace which gives an incredible view of the NY skyline. The neighbourhood is secure and there are loads of good restaurants and bars. The underground is quite easy to reach so it's perfect to get to other burrows as well. All in all we can highly recommend a stay with Bruce and Cindy.
First I want to thank to Bruce and Cyndi by their attentions. They tried to provide us everything we needed.
We were all the time visiting the town, but the few time that we shared, they were very nice.
About the room, it was all what we need. It is clean and more than enough for 2 persons. May be that i missed a kitchen (as Spanish I like cook frequently), but there are a lot of place to eat in the zone, so it isn't really a problem, and Bruce has got an double hot plate where you can prepare something.
The building is great (2 lifts/elevators, gym, laundry) and the doormen, in special Bob, are friendly.
The zone is good and the weekend have a lot of revelry. There are some bus lines crossing it and they leave you in subway stations, so you can access to any place of the city easily.
In resume, it was a nice experience that we would like repeat.
To all who thinks in visit NY, Bruce's appartment is a nice option.
Our stay at Bruce's was definitely great! He kept in touch and sent us useful information before our arrival. The room was cosy, everything we needed was there. Whenever we had a question, Bruce was happy to help us. The neighbourhood is really wonderful, we think it's the best place to stay at in New York.
We had an excellent stay at Bruce's place. The room is very spacious and has plenty of room, the bed is very comfy and breakfast is included. It a 10 minute walk away from the subway; the neighbourhood seems to be safe around the clock, so no worries there. There are a lot of bars and restaurants nearby, so you won't be bored. The appartement features a nice rooftop view over Manhattan - buildings like the Empire state, the Crysler and the new Freedom tower are nicely visible.
Best of all, we really liked Bruce himself. He has loads to tell and tips about what to do (and what not) in NYC. He's really relaxed and down to earth. As we didn't know wether we'd get out of the city or not (due to an upcoming storm, which grounded a few hundred planes) Bruce offered us to stay for another night (without charge); as far I am concerned, he was the perfect host.
Highly advised :)
Bruce and Cindy are very friendly! Hyper welcoming their apartment is clean, great location close to everything because (walking and metro). They advised us and made us feel comfortable and at home (because it is true that it is a bit annoying from "squatter" among others ...) but all is well past. There was no problem to link even with the language barrier we were able to have conversations, not really it was great! They made us live a great experience, and we were able to share with them our first Thanksgiving meal with the famous turkey was delicious! You can trust their really, do not hesitate to go home. It is true however, that the street is a bit noisy but hey, New York is the city that never sleeps, so it is something that is difficult to counter.
Bruce and Cindy are so kind, so friendly and so welcoming! Their apartment is clean, well located, near from everything (walking or taking the subway). You can really trust 'em, They adviced us and make us feel like home. We Could Have Some odd talk the language barrier. It was just a wonderfull trip, we loved it! The only drawback is the street noise at night goal, well, New York is the city that never sleeps so we can not do nothing for That No, really, we advice you to choose Bruce and Cindy, They are really great people!
Have a nice trip!

Warm, Bruce is very friendly. Ideal room to sleep only (noisy, provide ventilation ball earplugs because the other apartments) For breakfast, there is a little light (lack of orange juice or bread) The apartment is very well located ( near shops and transport) and we spent one week enjoyable. We recommend this apartment anyway.
Very kind and helpful people. Perfect place if you enjoy the laid back atmosphere of East Village. I’d like to come back! Thank you Bruce.
Bruce is a very nice and helpful host. We also enjoyed the large, clean rooms very much. Only limitation is the lack of food. There is a small coffee maker, fridge and micro. For us it was fine. But what is really really great, this is the location in the bustling, colorful East Village! We had fun exploring the countless witty, very individual shops, pubs and restaurants. If you like walking a conquered city, here is the perfect starting point! Weather permitting, the roof terrace is a great place to look over all of Manhattan, or to relax with a book. We would come back!
Bruce is very kind and his room is really convenient and quiet
That is a great advantage in NYC and the neighborood is really nice
Thanks a lot Bruce
